Carnival X creates real pathways into the creative industries. For young people who rarely see themselves represented, it offers hands-on experience delivering a major live event — building confidence, skills and belief in what’s possible. Through Manchester Caribbean Carnival, participants have the opportunity to gain experience in areas such as event management, stage production, media, marketing, community engagement and live event delivery. Working alongside experienced volunteers, professionals and community leaders, young people can develop practical skills, take on new responsibilities and gain valuable experience that supports their future ambitions.

At its heart, Carnival X is about creating opportunities, nurturing talent and helping the next generation build confidence while playing an active role in one of Manchester’s most important cultural events.

“Beyond my studies, I have had the privilege of working with Manchester Carnival for two years as an Assistant Project Manager. This experience has been instrumental in building my confidence,interpersonal skills, and administrative abilities.I have also been fortunate to work alongside inspirational Black women who have become my role models, something we don’t often see in the events industry. They have shared their insights and knowledge, empowering me to help break down barriers in the field.”
