APPLICATION FOR TRADING AT THE MANCHESTER CARNIVAL 2023
This application is for trading on:
Saturday the 10th of August & Sunday the 11th of August 2024 in Alexandra Park, Manchester.

The closing date for submission of applications is May 3rd, 2024 at 4 pm.

1. Traders will be notified if they are successful or unsuccessful by email Within 14 working days of full submission of all required documentation.
2. We ask that all documents be submitted together.
3. Successful Traders will be required to make payment in full by the 30th of June 2024.
4. There are no trading opportunities external to the Alexandra Park boundary.
For your application to be valid you must:
· complete all relevant sections within the form
· be eligible to work in the UK and provide documents to support this
· have valid public liability insurance for a minimum of £5 million covering you / your Business for trading on both days and provide evidence of this
· If you intend to sell food, you must be registered as a food trader with a Local Authority and provide evidence of this
· Only valid applications will be considered
This Application Form should be completed as follows.
Section 1 Trader Information – All traders are to complete all boxes (1a & 1b) Section 2 Food and Drink – Only food and drink traders are to complete all boxes Section 3 Trading Space – All traders are to complete all boxes
Section 4 Trading History – All traders are to complete all boxes
Section 5 Confirmation Statement – All traders are to sign and date.
An early bird discount of 15% will be available for everyone who submits their application and payment by 31st March 2024.
Please note there is an admin fee of £3.00 with your application.

FAQ – What you can and cannot sell.
Traders can sell food, non-food goods or both, this includes soft drink beverages (the sale of Alcohol is not permitted. If you wish to sell alcohol please email stalls.manchestercarnival@outlook.com and your enquiry will be sent to the relevant team).
You are not permitted to sell alcoholic drinks of any type i.e. Spirits, Ales, Beers, Lagers, Guinness, Port, Wine, Babycham, Rum Punch, Alcoholic Jellies or Legal highs. Nitro Oxide (laughing gas) is not permitted to be sold at Manchester Carnival.
Second-hand toys or electrical equipment, knives, solvents or any kind or real or imitation Firearms are not permitted. Traders are not permitted to sell illegal substances. No counterfeit goods or unauthorised copies of copyrighted Designs or Labels. Fortune–telling, Tattooing, Body piercing, Head massage, Hairdressing or Tarot reading are also not permitted.
Sale of Alcohol Policy.
As the licensee, you need to make sure that your premises are operating an age verification policy for the sale of alcohol, where any customers appearing to be under 18 must provide valid identification before being served. The designated premises supervisor is responsible for making sure all alcohol is sold in line with the challenge 21 policy.
By signing this document, you have committed to:
● support and co-operate with the Manchester Caribbean Carnival to make this event a safe and enjoyable based upon a safe and responsible approach to alcohol.
● The maintenance, monitoring and enforcement of standards of good practice expected of premises selling alcohol.
● The prevention of the sale of alcohol to intoxicated or underaged persons.
● Prevention of use of any glassware
● The responsible consumption of alcohol by all our patrons.
Supporting Information
This sheet provides details of the supporting information that must be submitted with your application. Your application will not be considered until all of the relevant documents have been received.
You are required to submit the following documentation with your application form:
1. Proof of your legal right to work in the UK – All traders
2. Proof of address – All traders
3. Proof of Public Liability Insurance – All traders
4. Personal licence for Alcohol
5. Vehicle motor insurance.
6. Copy of DBS
You can photocopy documents and send via email to stalls.manchestercarnival@outlook.com . If you intend to send your documents electronically via an email, you are required to ensure that they are in colour, and they must be one of the following file types:
● Microsoft Word documents with the file extension ‘.doc’
● Images with the file extension ‘.jpg’
● Compressed files with the extension ‘.zip’
● Files with the extension ‘.pdf’
1. Proof of your legal right to work in the UK
You must be eligible to work in the UK, and provide evidence of this. This can be your Passport or National identity card. Photocopies of passports must include the passport cover and whole of the personal details page, as well as any visa or endorsements showing your current right to work in the UK. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit this.
2. Proof of address
All applicants must provide at least TWO documents from this list, showing your full name and address. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit these.
● Bank, building society, mortgage or other financial statement not more than three months old
● Utility bill, e.g. electricity, gas, water, telephone, mobile phone not more than three months old
● Credit card, store card or mail order catalogue statement not more than three months old
● Government agency document, e.g. Benefits Agency, Employment Service, Inland
Revenue not more than 12 months old
● Payslip with address on it, P45 or P60 not more than 3 months old
3. Proof of public liability insurance (PLI)
You must provide ONE document from the list below to provide documentary evidence of your public liability insurance;
● A copy of your public liability insurance policy schedule.
● A copy of your National Market Traders Federation membership card.
All traders are required to have public liability insurance. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit this.
FAQ – What you can and cannot sell.
Traders are not able to sell food unless they have applied for a separate food stall. Traders are not permitted to sell illegal substances or legal highs. Nitro Oxide (laughing gas) is not permitted to be sold at Manchester Carnival.
